The wolf’s pride

There is no self, like no-self

the wolf spoke to a room, filled with sheep

the self is an illusion

you do not exist

it’s a logical conclusion

but easily missed

If I would eat you alive

no harm would be done

you would not be lost

i would not have won

his eyes lurked around

seeking praise and applause

But most sheep just gazed

just a few where in awe

then one sheep, a dervish

brought her hand to her heart

as she walked to the wolf

his world shattered apart

she saw through him, she held him

forgave his pride and his shame

he just melted, dissolved,

“we are all One, we are the same”

he fell on his knees

he wept and he laughed

forgive me, my friends

for being so daft

my images of truth where a magnificent lie

only love brings it live

grace kissed me today

and on that sweet kiss,

I died

The reed sparrow

A reed sparrow flew by my window

She looked a little pale

shaken by her experience

but eager to tell her tale:

“I saw I always had been dreaming

And was suddenly wide awake”

The earth that seemed so stable

Was fluid, like the lake

my mother never gave birth to me

I was giving birth to her, you see

And I was not flying through the trees,

But the trees,

they flew through me…

Yusuf’s dream

Eleven stars,

the sun and moon

bowed before him

in his dream

What does this mean?

He asked his dad

Who worried and sad

Saw the divine scheme

Don’t tell your brothers

my precious boy

be careful of

their jealous ploy

Jacob’s warning became

a foretelling spell

as his fearful brothers

threw him in a well

Satan’s games

never touched his soul

during Egypt’s hardships

he remained pure and whole

Tears of forgiveness

Poured from Yusuf’s eyes

Seeing, first through his own

next, to his brothers lies

My close of kin

We were always One

Let’s forget this dream

No harm, was done

Light and love,

shone from his face,

when his brothers

bowed before his

innocent grace

She fed me spoons of poetry

tastes of Rumi and Attar

we imagined being drunk in Hafiz tavern

while we were sitting in a bar

We felt a thousand forms of Love, that night

but to become God’s Lover,

takes so much more

than a nibble and a bite

to become that

formless form, of Love

to receive a kiss

from that beautiful,

faceless face

that kiss

from beyond form

can be given only

by grace
